Our mission is to exceed the expectations of our customers, who include homeowners, builders, dealers and fellow employees. To accomplish this, we commit to:

  • The ongoing development of superior deck products and services.
  • The achievement of high levels of customer service and satisfaction.
  • A strong emphasis on the creation of value.

  • Chris Renslow is president and owner of Renslows Systems, a growing company in Minneapolis, MN that is attracting national attention with its unique, maintenance free outdoor deck systems. His modular system, Renslows Lifetime Series, feature modular designed components constructed from aluminum. These components are then coated with high performance materials uncommon to the outdoor deck market. These decks look and feel great, require less maintenance and are extremely durable. For the deck builder, it offers the ease and simplicity of modular deck components that can be installed in half the time of other decks.
A true aficionado developed this revolutionary deck. It started just after Chris received his journeyman’s license, when his father asked him to build a deck and gazebo for him. The success of this project lead to numerous requests for his deck building services. Chris discovered he had a flair for incorporating new ideas into every deck project that he tackled. "After years of commercial and residential carpentry work, all of a sudden I found myself thinking only of decks and how I could make my next one better. I was excited about the improvements I kept coming up with," remembers Chris. He decided to pursue his passion full-time by founding Renslow’s Decks and Gazebos in 1992.

In the following years, Chris built hundreds and designed thousands of decks. Working extensively with wood and then with some of the newer, composite deck materials, he became intimately acquainted with the advantages and drawbacks of each. Armed with his extensive experience and a list of improvements he desired to achieve "the perfect deck," Chris set about combining higher quality proven materials with modular designed deck components. He then developed systems within his organization that intimately conform with his deck designs. The combination allows him to streamline the design, sales and installation process, in return allowing him to invite higher performance, quality materials to his decks at a competitive price. "We rearranged the way our customers’ dollars were spent. More of the cost is devoted to these high quality decking materials and less goes into the labor due to our modular deck design and custom organization. Our decks might cost a bit more up front, but when weighing initial costs with long term value, it is clear why our systems are setting new standards. "We are bringing the deck business up to par with today's technologies".

Today Chris's decks are available for on-line design, ordering and shipping to anywhere in the country. Chris and his team pride themselves on the personal service they are able to offer to their customers. By providing some basic information and measurements through their on-line InfoPacket, any aspiring deck-builder can work with a Renslows designer to plan and order their own dream deck including Renslows DESIGN A DECK ONLINE FREE interactive website.

Chris can't stop striving for perfection, so the product is constantly under development and undergoing improvement and expansion. Keep checking back to the web site to see the latest designs and ideas that Chris and his team come up with!

Renslows has quintupled sales with Web, modular design Monica Labelle "Editorial Intern"
Chris Renslow knows what his clients want before he meets them. The owner and president of Minneapolis St. Paul-based Renslows Systems, who started out selling traditional wooden decks, now uses the Web to sell custom decks in durable coated aluminum. The strategy has quintupled sales. Those in the market can go to http://www.renslows.com and design their dream deck online free, right down to the railing color, with a few mouse clicks. They can see an aerial view of their plan before meeting with Renslow, and his staff get critical information about potential customers piped directly into their database. "Today you have to build automation into your business," says Renslow, who saw a 528 percent increase in revenue in the first six months of web launch over the same period a year earlier. He attributes the jump to the launch of his Web site last year. "People put themselves into our database and our database puts [the deck plans] together," along with information for order processing and billing. Automated information storage is key for Renslow. He designed 31 components -- from floor sections in various shapes to stairways -- which fit together to form myriad deck designs. "It helps us streamline things," Renslow said.

Deck For The Future Part 1 and Part 2, (TLC)
    Steel Deck in a Box
Minnesota contractor Chris Renslow set out to build "the perfect deck." Has he?

Chris Renslow, owner of Renslows Systems, in South St. Paul, Minn., divides "the deck world" into three parts: There are wood decks; there are low-maintenance vinyl or composite decks; and then there are his decks.

Renslows Systems, sells a modular decking system made of thermal-coated aluminum. You've seen the same material used in playground equipment.

There are many advantages to the material, according to Renslow. The deck doesn't burn, weather, wear, or go gray. It's also slip resistant and doesn't squeak. So confident is Renslow in his product that he offers clients a limited lifetime warranty on materials. The "limited" part has to do with color, because panels can experience "color drifting" over time. Color stability (Renslows clients can choose between five decking colors and seven rail options) is warranted for 25 years +(see warranty for details).
